Ryan graduated with honors from William Paterson University’s fine art and photography program in 2004. He received the Puffin Foundation fine arts grant for his work in Paterson. In 2005 he joined the Peace Corps in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Since returning to the United States in 2007 he has begun a new project documenting graffiti culture.
Presently he is a freelance photojournalist for the TimesLedger newspapers in Queens, New York. Based in Brooklyn, Ryan is available for local and international assignments.
